Secret Garden Wedding in Historic Roslyn Washington

By Mary M.,

Wedding days are more than a single event. They’re a reflection of a team the bride and groom unknowingly create as they hire vendors to help bring their vision to life. Having a network of professionals who work well together is an important factor when planning a wedding.

Which is how a Secret Garden Wedding in Historic Roslyn came to be. A group of artists and entrepreneurs from eight separate businesses came together to plan and execute a dream wedding in historic Roslyn, Washington.  It all started with a simple conversation and grew from there. Our goal was to work together creatively and learn more about collaborating with one another.  We wanted to tell the story of this dream wedding and showcase the skills and services of those involved.

Wedding designer Sarah St. Laurent’s vision provided the foundation for the shoot and it turned out impeccably thanks to the talent and dedication from each vendor.

Nestled in the heart of historic downtown Roslyn, Washington, StoneHouse101 is the perfect intimate setting for any style event, including weddings. The charming building was built in the late 1800’s by Italian tradesmen and coalminers, and was originally the Piedmonte Saloon. Over 100 years later, the building has since been remodeled and renovated to house modern amenities with indoor and outdoor settings.

StoneHouse101 features a beautiful, welcoming reception area with a mobile bar and a great room that fully opens to a private lighted yard surrounded by lush garden areas. Brides fall in love with wood farm tables, wine barrel cocktail tables, and the seasonal fire pit or fountain.

Personal Branding: Cle Elum Wedding and Event Planner, Sarah St. Laurent

By marym,

The idea of starting a wedding planning business began 24 hours after Sarah St. Laurent experienced her own fairytale wedding. There was something about the way the day felt magical that made Sarah want to turn it into a career.

When starting your own business there are so many exciting aspects: choosing a name, creating a website and developing your brand are chief among them. Sarah wanted to take care of Personal Branding right away so she came to me for personal branding headshots to use as visual imagery for her social media, website and even business cards.

Why Personal Branding:

I am just starting in my business & I realized I do not have any professional images of me to use on Social Media or my website.  Professional photographs help me portray my brand, which is a higher end, boutique business.

What do you want people to know about you?

My husband and I recently relocated to Cle Elum.  He is a chef and found an amazing opportunity here.  We came here because we wanted a quieter lifestyle that allowed us to pursue our passions, and for that reason, we love Kittitas County and all that it has to offer.

My designs are classic and timeless, with a little bit of whimsy.  Planning my own wedding sparked my passion for wedding and event planning & design.

A Special Mothers Day Photography Session

By Mary M.,

The month of May is known for a few things. For starters, there’s the old adage “April showers bring May flowers.” Reminding us that May is a time for renewal and growth. Of course, May is also known for Mother’s Day. For some of us, both of these bring happy thoughts. But for many others, Mother’s Day is a reminder of grief or loss.   Cle Elum is a small community, where most business owners know one another on some level. Which is how I learned that Amanda Heins, a small business owner of the Roslyn Grocery, lost her husband in February.

Within a short time of her husband’s passing, Mother’s day was upon us. It seemed to be the perfect time to celebrate Amanda. As a Photographer in Cle Elum there was only one answer. I reached out to offer a photography session with her daughters and mother-in-law, and they accepted! We planned the session for Mother’s day. I brought a picnic, some games, bubbles, etc.  Things that would make it special for the girls. Plus, a bouquet of handmade cookies donated by Confection Concoctions for both Amanda and her mother-in-law, Anne.

After her session, I sat down with Amanda to talk to her about what the photography experience was like. As someone who lost both of her parents at a very young age, I identified so much with what photographs and the experience meant to her.

In Amanda’s own words…

“My grandmother had a love wall in her home and she always had pictures of her 24 grandkids and 7 children. My mom did too. We always had lots of pictures on the walls and family portraits. However, my husband Matt did not like the camera. He was very camera shy. We could never get him to do a family photo. Then when he passed away we realized how few pictures we had of all of us together.

I asked her if, after his passing, she felt like it was more important to have family photos.

“My kids are 8 and 6 now. You don’t really realize how fast it’s going by. I hadn’t had them professionally photographed in some time. It just goes so quickly. If you blink, you miss this entire stage of adolescence.”

Amanda had asked me to include her husband’s mother in the session. I thought that was a beautiful gesture and of course wanted her to be involved.

“My mother in law had one child. This was her first mother’s day without her son. That was her identity. Her life. Being a mother was a big part of her life. We are both very lucky to have live in a community that is so supportive and so amazing. But we are both going through the process of what is essentially redefining ourselves. Finding who we are without his presence. So it’s important to have her as part of the pictures. They’re his legacy and her connection to her son.”

Personal Branding Photography: Kristin Jeffries, Ellensburg Mortgage Advisor

By marym,

When Kristin Jeffries contacted me for updated personal branding photography she knew that she wanted her photos to be different from your standard headshot. If you’ve ever obtained a mortgage you know that it requires an immense amount of paperwork and numbers are everything. It can also be a stressful experience for the average home buyer. Working with a mortgage advisor that is committed to making your experience as stress-free as possible is everything. But as a Mortgage Advisor in Ellensburg, Kristin Jeffries knows that we can sometimes forget how important the human side of this experience can be. personal branding photography of a mortgage lender standing at her desk

Which is why I really wanted to place Kristin inside her office for some of her personal branding photography. The visual imagery we created reminds potential clients that there are people on the other side of the paperwork and finding someone who can relate to you and your experience is so important.

Why Did You Choose Personal Branding?

“I see personal branding it as a new way to market myself beyond the classic real estate headshot.  It allows my clients to get a better sense of who I am and how I work.”

What do you want potential clients to know about you?

“I want clients to know that I am just like them, I understand the balance of family and work.  I make what could be a stressful large purchase as stress-free as possible.  Securing home loans for my clients is incredibly rewarding.”

What You Need to Know About Personal Branding and Headshots

By Mary M.,

Think about the last time you had a job interview or met up with a potential client or business partner. How much time and care did you spend getting ready for your meeting? You probably put some effort into carefully selecting your clothing, your hair (and maybe your makeup). That’s because as business people we realize that the way we look and carry ourselves is the very first impression we make on someone – today more than ever, first impressions matter. We will work together to create your visual brand by using photographs to show people what it is like to work with you. During our initial consultation, we will talk about whether to tell your story with your personal branding headshots, with a session that shows “a day in the life of…”, or with images at your desk or in your work environment.

First, you’ll want to bring about 3-5 outfit choices. Think about what these clothes say about your brand. Are you friendly and approachable? Your clothing should reflect a laid back but business appropriate style. Are you a no-nonsense attorney set to win? You’ll want bold and serious colors conservative in nature to express a formal and authoritative style. Our goal is that you look like your natural selves on our very best day. Ladies, for this reason, I personally recommend adding professional hair and makeup and can make those arrangements for you.

The location also sets the tone of your branding headshot. An attorney might find a brick wall a great backdrop for their headshots to further convey the message of strength and dependability. Whereas a lifestyle blogger or family photographer might opt for a garden setting. A coffee shop owner might prefer their branding session take place on location!

The way we presently do business has changed dramatically in the world of digital commerce. While social media and Google may be an efficient medium for connecting, it’s a cold way to do business. Bring life and warmth to your online presence with a headshot and personal branding session. Remember the old adage, a picture is worth a thousand words? Let’s create personal branding that speaks to your audience.
