Karter Larimer’s Senior Portraits in Roslyn

I can’t imagine what was going through the minds of Karter Larimer’s parents when he was born at just 2lbs 4 ozs. I can’t imagine the combination of fear and joy they faced the first time they looked at their newborn. What it was like while they watched him spend the first 77 days of his life in the NICU. But I am positive that at that moment they couldn’t yet imagine him as a senior, graduating from Cle Elum Roslyn High School, class of 2019.

At 77 days old, they didn’t know that he would maintain perfect attendance after reaching the 7th grade. Or that he would be a member of the Honor Society or Marching Band. Karter is also political aficionado which explains why he is inspired by the likes of Frank Herbert and Teddy Roosevelt. When featured as Student of the Month he was asked his favourite motivational quote: “Teddy Roosevelt has really inspired me. And Frank Hebert, too. Hebert once said, “I must not fear. Fear is a mind-killer.””

Karter plans on attending Central Washington University in Ellensburg and works part-time at Inland Telephone in Roselyn. Needless to say, I couldn’t wait to create senior portraits in Roslyn with this young man. It was his first professional photo in 12 years! With music being such a large part of his life, it was important to document that part of his life. I loved the edgy photo we created with his trombone but it was also important to photograph him with it in the stadium of Cle Elum Roslyn Highschool, where so much of the marching band’s time is spent!

I’m also convinced that Karter might have been born in the wrong decade after he showed up with his 1979 Pontiac LeMans Safari Wagon and a Reagan/Bush shirt dated from before he was even born. Karter might be too cool for me!I loved that his family chose to invest in a combination of Wall Art and Albums. Wall art is a beautiful way to highlight your favorite images while Albums allow you to preserve the story of his senior session and include the images of small details.
