There has been a beautiful, common theme among the parents of my senior sessions this year. Each of them has expressed to me that senior photos are the one “normal” senior experience have the opportunity to give our high school students these last two years.

When Kayden Wilder’s mom, Danielle, reached out to me she shared these same sentiments. “Having Kayden’s senior year coincide with covid has been so disappointing. The things that he was looking forward to and worked for won’t come to fruition – state championships, dances, etc. It is hard to know that they are in such limbo. Senior photos were an opportunity to have a tangible memory in a year when there will be so few.” 

This is especially difficult for seniors like Kayden who lead active extra-curricular lives during their high school years. Kayden has attended Cle Elum Roslyn schools since the 1st grade and will be graduating with the class of 2021. He has been very involved in sports and outdoors his whole life.  He began wrestling at the young age of 5 and took to it pretty naturally. Throughout his wrestling career, he has always been in the lowest weight class, and still is to this day!

“Watching kids in that weight class, they are incredibly fast and aggressive. Knowing that my kid is out there and competing at that level, means a lot to me. In February of 2020 Kayden made it to the highest level of high school wrestling and competed in the state tournament.” – Danielle, Mom

In addition to being on the wrestling team, he is also on the Varsity Baseball team and is an avid hunter and outdoorsman with his dad. Naturally, it was important that we capture these interests in his senior photos. After highschool Kayden plans to join the sheet metal union through an apprenticeship!
