For the last 50 years, Don and Judy Ross have lived on their four-acre homestead in Thorp, a small town residing between Cle Elum and Ellensburg. It was where they moved in after their wedding day. Where they brought home four incredible sons and welcomed eleven grandchildren. Along their walls, they have beautiful old family photos on display dating back generations. And, of course, their own family portraits through the years. On their property, they enjoy producing hay, growing a beautiful garden, and at this time of year collecting fruit from their fruit trees. If you’re very lucky you may even be treated to one of the most delicious apple pies of your life. (Thanks Don and Judy!)

This year they are celebrating their 50th anniversary and three generations of Ross heritage in their home. And, I was honored to be a part of it as their family photographer.  Their son and daughter-in-law, Micaela and Beau, contacted me in advance of Don and Judy’s 50th-anniversary celebration. It was the rare opportunity to have all four of their sons home at one time, as well as to gather the grandchildren. Don said that the best part of gathering the entire family was “being surrounded by love, joy, and togetherness.” And those sentiments are exactly what I wanted to capture.

We photographed the family on the property, and even on the front porch steps of the home. It was a joy capturing the love of parents and children, grandparent and grandchild, siblings and cousins. As part of their gift, Micaela and Beau chose a beautiful heirloom album to hold all of the memories for them. Don and Judy also chose to add to their collection of family photographs with a piece of wall art.
