It’s the month of love and what better way to celebrate than with engagement photos! Ken Austin and Samantha Wiser found me through Google during their search for a local Ellensburg photographer and I’m so glad that they did!

Ken is a long-time resident of Ellensburg having spent the last 17 years here. He is a Geophysicist (earthquake AND volcano engineer) and Samantha is an executive assistant at the Alaska Earthquake Center. After years of long-distance dating (Washington and Alaska!), the couple is looking forward to living together in the same state.

Samantha and Ken’s meet-cute story is the material that rom-coms are made out of and I mean that in the best possible way. They met four years ago when Samantha was planning a conference in Anchorage and at the end of the conference, there were 20 geoscientist from China who wanted to do site visits. During their field trip she connected with Ken over their mutual love of travel. He had been to Australia and she was going there that summer. They stayed in touch after the trip and met up again at a conference in Seattle. It seems like it could be directly out of a movie, right?!

The couple shares a love for the outdoors, earth science, travel, and culinary experiences. They both have some pretty extreme hobbies too. Samantha is involved in Aerial Yoga and Aerial Circus Arts while Ken is a cyclist – both road and mountain biking.

I love that Ken and Samantha arrived at their engagement session with outfits that were fitting for engagement photos while still reflecting their unique personalities. The matching chucks were cute and a great way to infuse some personality into formal attire. They also made for way better hiking shoes than heels!
