There is nothing more wonderful than working with a senior that I’ve known since they were a child. Meet Julie Hurley, Cle Elum Roslyn High School Class of 2023. I met Julie back when she was in the 3rd grade, so having the opportunity to photograph her now as a graduating senior is a beautiful full circle!

Julie Hurley is the daughter of Molly Matheson, a scholar athlete, and has big dreams of being a high school English teacher after graduating college.

This All-American Girl works hard in both sports and academics to maintain a nearly 4.0 GPA in school, with her favorite subject being, of course, English. This year, she’s smartly taking on two English courses, one of which is for college credit. She’s also on both the soccer and basketball teams at CERHS and has excelled in both sports for well over a decade.

As a senior photographer, I understand the importance of representing the senior’s full personality. I love that we included both soccer & basketball into Julie’s portraits to represent her lifelong love for athletics.

When Julie isn’t working on school assignments or practicing, she’s a typical teen. She loves her family & faith, occupies her time with reading, writing & video games, and gets out in the fresh air for hikes as often as possible. She’s a wonderful daughter and friend.

Cle Elum Senior Photographer

Molly, Julie’s mom, is a planner & reached out in the Spring of Julie’s junior year to schedule her senior photos. They knew they wanted our beautiful Spring wildflowers as the backdrop of Julie’s portraits and planned accordingly, which meant taking photos before her Junior year was even over! I just love that we were able to coordinate the time so Julie is able to have the senior photos of her dreams in the wildflowers. All of the flowers add the prettiest touch to these senior portraits!

Before the end of the session, we made sure to capture some images of both Molly & Julie together. After Julie’s step dad,Lyle Matheson, passed away in 2020, the two have been closer than ever. They deeply understand the importance of family portraits with their loved ones and it was a pleasure to be able to help them document this next phase of Julie’s life.
