For over 100 years, Cle Elum Bakery has been a staple on 1st street. Each morning the smells of freshly baked bread and coffee waft in and out of its doors as locals stop by on their way to work. For over 70 of those years, the bakery has been owned by The Osmonovich family & their heritage is just as steep and as rooted as the bakery itself. Over the years, I’ve worked closely with Ivan and Claudia Osmonovich on a number of commercial projects for the bakery, as well as family portraits. So I was thrilled when Claudia reached out to me to help her with a deeply personal project.

Claudia wanted to update their family portraits, and create a beautiful heirloom album and wall arrangement as a gift to Ivan.  In addition, Claudia wanted to create a tangible legacy for their children, Nick and Ivy, in the form of a beautifully bound 8×8 legacy album for each of them. Over the course of 2019 we did a number of sessions at different locations for Ivy and Nick, as well a session of the whole family at their property. That’s where their fondest memories were formed and they felt like it was the fitting spot for such an important project.

Their son Nick is the co-owner of the Cle Elum Bakery. He is an avid adventurist and a dog dad to a rescue dog that he adores.

Ivy graduated from the University of Washington this spring with a BS in Microbiology. She loves city life but she also loves hanging out at the bakery and spending time at home.

It was important to Claudia that their children’s unique personalities and varied interests were included in their albums. I love that we captured who they are at such an important stepping stone, as they establish themselves as independent adults.

I am eternally grateful to have clients who value the printed legacy I can help them create. When it came time to create the family album, honoring the generations before them was just as important as the family portraits we created over the course of 2019. It was the perfect surprise for Ivan, and was a wonderfully sentimental way to honor the family’s legacy and love for each other. Claudia also surprised Ivan by including childhood photographs of Ivan with Nick and Ivy. Finally, we entitled it:
