Three years ago I had the pleasure of working with the Geiger family to take senior portraits of their son, Jake. This year, Gannon and Vanessa reached out to me as their daughter Grayce was looking for senior photography in Ellensburg. As a photographer, there is no better compliment than a family choosing to come back to me again! I was thrilled to meet Grayce, an amazing student at CERHS. She is a member of the Key Club, Honor Society, and is a Varsity cheerleader. She has been admitted to her first-choice college, WSU, and is planning a career in education.

“Being a senior in 2020/21 has made me appreciate my first years of high school so much more. I really miss cheering at games, and the energy from the fans is so much fun. I’m a flyer. I have been a flyer since I was a freshman and I love it because I get to feel the thrill of getting thrown into the air while the crowd is watching. The Cle Elum Roslyn school community takes our school spirit very seriously. I love the school spirit during homecoming week and miss it so much. In some ways, I feel that my senior year has been taken away.”

“Through my senior photos, I can see my excitement for the future and my gratitude for my past. I am glad that I got to have one of the milestones for my senior year, and loved to see my confidence and personality show in my photos.

I loved working together because I can be honest and I knew you were going to make me look and feel my best. It was super fun. My favorite session was when my best friend came with me! We went to Ellensburg to the Red Horse Diner and Downtown Ellensburg. While I love Cle Elum, I think the more metropolitan vibe of Ellensburg is the best fit for my personality.”

The Geiger family chose to invest in my most inclusive senior portrait package because they were thrilled with the idea of a beautiful, 12×12 heirloom album.

I knew that you would give Grayce photos that are different than everyone else. Individual photos that help show her personality. She is her own individual and Grayce is pure of heart and fair, she is very centered. She has known throughout high school that she wanted to go to WSU, and that she wants to join a sorority. English is her God-given talent, she is an extremely gifted writer.

It has been heartbreaking to watch Grayce lose hope this year, as none of the things that she had planned for her senior year have come to fruition. Cheer for her means sistership. It means you can rely on your team members to pick you there or be there for you – its a sistership that she longed for. As a parent, this is a situation that I can’t fix. But this is the one thing we could still give her this year.
