As I sit here in our local Cle Elum Bakery (sipping the coffee that was waiting for me before I even walked in the door) I look ahead to one of the busiest weeks of the year for many of us business owners. In the weeks leading up to this, it was easy to get caught up in the trappings of Black Friday ads flooding my mailbox – virtual and otherwise.
But as a small business owner myself, I know how much this Holiday season means to the local small businesses in our own communities. That when we shop and support local we’re helping families who live in our communities. We’re putting food on a neighbor’s table, helping our friends pay their mortgage, put their kids in sports and funding college tuition.
But its more than that. When you support a local business, you’re also supporting your town, city, and neighborhood. Businesses pay sales taxes to the city and county the business is located in. That tax money is used to support public schools, parks, roads, and sidewalks, as well as fund public service workers, like firefighters.
This year I’ve committed to shopping local more than ever and I want to make it easy for you to shop local this holiday season too! Visiting each of these businesses had a dual purpose for me – not only was I able to take photos, I started my own holiday shopping. Here are 20 wonderful shops to consider this Small Business Saturday in Cle Elum and Roslyn.
