I specialize in timeless, fine art photography and my passion is combining traditional and lifestyle portraiture while photographing families, seniors, maternity and branding clients in Cle Elum, Washington and surrounding areas.
My first stop of the day this morning was at the Cle Elum Bakery (picking up coffee that was waiting for me before I even walked in the door). Typically, today we would look ahead to one of the busiest weeks of the year for many small business owners. But in 2020, we all feel a little less certain of what is to come. Which is why it is so important for us to shop local.
As a small business owner myself, I know how much this Holiday season means to the local small businesses in our own communities. That when we shop and support local we’re helping families who live in our communities. We’re putting food on a neighbor’s table, helping our friends pay their mortgage, put their kids in sports and funding college tuition. In addition, when you support a local business, you’re also supporting your town, city, and neighborhood. Businesses pay sales taxes to the city and county the business is located in. That tax money is used to support public schools, parks, roads, and sidewalks, as well as fund public service workers, like firefighters.
But its more than that: this year, we are helping businesses survive and thrive in a particularly challenging year. I’ve committed to shopping local more than ever and I want to make it easy for you to shop local this holiday season too! Here are a small selection of the wonderful shops to consider this Small Business Saturday in Cle Elum and Roslyn.
At the iconic Roslyn Cafe, owner operators John and Jalene offer classic cuisine with local flare. My personal favorite is the Roslyn Cafe Burger.
