It’s November in Cle Elum and that means we’re right in the middle of the busy season for photographers! Our schedules are jam-packed with families coming together to update their annual portraits. While our days may be chaos and coffee courses through our veins, this is also the highlight of our entire year. I get the opportunity to photograph families that live in my community & even some who travel from hours away. Carina and Matt Walters manage to check both of those boxes.

Most of the year is spent at their home base in Seattle with their two kids Wyatt and Winnie. But they also have a home in nearby Suncadia, which is where they spend most of their free time. Matt works in Commercial Real Estate. While Carina is a work from home mom running a social media consulting business. To say their days are busy just might be an understatement! Carina shared with me that this is exactly why they love their time in Cle Elum so much – because of the opportunity to rest and relax as a family. Of course, enjoying a round of golf and dinner at Swift Water Cellars is also something they look forward to.

Originally, the Walter’s reached out to me for an extended family session based on a referral from their wonderful Suncadia Real Estate Agent, Danny Peterson. Both Matt and Carina’s parents would be in town at the same time and what better way to celebrate than with family photos in Suncadia?! However, we actually wound up doing the session in two parts. We began first with the extended family and then I met up with the Walter’s again at a later date for an intimate family session. This allowed us to maximize their family portrait experience while not completely exhausting two small children.

Later, Carina let me know that “You were the calmest part of the whole thing which was so refreshing. You made what could have been a very stressful process, not stressful. I love your passion for the work!” Which is exactly what I strive for in every aspect of the process.

I can’t wait to see them back again this winter as we expand their portrait collection and work to craft a beautiful heirloom album.
